Nothing beats a glass of this cool refreshing Honeydew Sago Dessert with milk on a warm summer’s day.
Big on taste and very easy to prepare. I brought one honeydew home with me this past weekend as I have been wanting to make this Honeydew Sago Dessert for a while now. Often served at Chinese wedding banquets in Malaysia, this light and refreshing dessert is the perfect ending to a 10-course feast. Sago is a starch extracted from the pith of the sago palm
Ingredients: (3-4 serving)
500 g diced ripe honeydew cubes
200 g sugar
360 ml water
100 g dried sago
300ml fresh milk
12 honey dew melon balls
Direction for Sago:
1. Boiled pot of water, add sugar and dried sago.
2. Cook sago in a pot of boiling water until translucent. Sago is cooked when center is no longer opaque,
about 7 to 8 minutes.
3. Turn off the heat. Let it sit and cover for 20 minutes
4.Pour sago into a sieve and place under running water to remove excessive starch. Drain well.
5. Place sago under cold water, soak sago until they are cool. Set aside.
Direction for Dessert:
1. Halve honeydew melon and scoop out the seeds. Using a melon baller, scoop out little balls of flesh.
Chill in fridge and set aside.
2. Prepare honey dew puree by placing milk & honeydew cubes in blender. Blend well.
3. Base the cup with sago, then honeydew puree, and lastly decorate with honeydew ball on top.
I love this recipe! It is simple to make but you will addict to the desert once you tasted it.
