Real talk: Apart from the burnout I experienced while working in the early childhood education (EC) industry, I also developed a disliking for the idea of having children.

When you're burned out, tired, and depressed all at once, you don't really see the brighter side of life. Before marriage, the notion of starting my own family seemed exciting. But after getting married, I just couldn't imagine handling children AGAIN after dealing with them at work. Hearing them cry at work and at home was all too overwhelming for me. 😭

When I confided in my husband, he was understanding and supportive. He stressed that ultimately, it's my body and my choice. Of course, I didn't share my thoughts and feelings with my parents and siblings, despite pressuring me with the "when are you going to get pregnant?" question. I was too afraid that they would not understand, or pass remarks.

As someone who desires to have her own family, I recognized that these thoughts were becoming unhealthy and unmanageable. Consequently, I decided to resign even though my savings weren’t enough - but it turned out to be the best decision ever. ☺️

I took about 10 months off from working full-time and focused on restoring my mental health, even though my wallet's health was deteriorating, lol!

After 10 months, I feel much better, and the idea of having my own children doesn't scare me as much anymore, except for the whole giving birth part, of course. 😣
