if you just got accepted into ecde through the eae / is planning to do ecde as a diploma, heres some tips and advices for you !

(p.s. i just finished y1 sem 1 only, take this as a grain of salt. and i went through eae to enter this course, so no hate all loves 🫶🏻 !! )

1️⃣ money flies FAST

as ecde is mainly a project based diploma, you will spent tons of money of art and craft supplies. if you want good work, get ready to spend. of courses there are cheaper options but honestly... once you start buying you will not stop (based on experience).

2️⃣ packed weekends

as mentioned, ecde is a project based diploma. thus, you will spend a lot of time doing research, typing and reflecting, discussing ideas, buying and making artefacts etc. there is a lot of behind the scene work needed to be done.

3️⃣ there are theories too

of course, theories are as equally important!! learning about children development through the 4 main domains allow us educators to further plan and implement individualistic ideas for our artefacts/activities. and it's interesting to learn about it too.

4️⃣ preschool attachments

at your first semester, you will be attached to a preschool for two weeks. you will then learn how to interact with children and see the classroom environment for yourself. truly it is all fun and games, but the burnt out is real too. you will also get sick as there are a lot of germs in a preschool. so get your immunity 🆙 asap!!

5️⃣ it is not a 'fun only' diploma

many people will say that it is a 'fun only' diploma, but honestly, that is a big nono. the stress to perform well is always there. and projects comes in like firing bullets, non stop, and their submissions are all back to back. but the stress can be subsided as long you maintain a good study-life balance (we shall talk about it next time!).
