How to make Meat Bun?
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup warm water
• 2 tsp instant yeast
• 2 tbsp sugar
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Filling:
• 300g ground pork (or other preferred meat)
• 2 tbsp soy sauce
• 1 tbsp oyster sauce
• 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
• 1 tbsp sesame oil
• 1 tbsp minced ginger
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 green onions, finely chopped
• 1 tsp sugar
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
• 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional, for juicier filling)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough:
• In a bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
• In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
• Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
• Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Prepare the Filling:
• In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onions, sugar, salt, and white pepper. Mix well.
• If you prefer a juicier filling, you can add chicken broth gradually while stirring until the mixture is well combined and slightly sticky.
3. Assemble the Buns:
• Punch down the risen dough and knead it briefly. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
• Roll out each ball into a 4-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
• Place a tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pleat them together to seal the filling inside, forming a bun.
4. Steam the Buns:
• Place the buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer, leaving some space between each bun.
• Cover the steamer and let the buns rest for about 15 minutes.
• Steam the buns over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until the buns are puffed and cooked through.
5. Serve:
• Remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade Chinese meat buns!
