If you're looking at growing your glutes, hip thrust is really a glute staple. However, there are different variations to doing hip thrust, be it smith machine, barbell or using hip thrust machine, and which one is the best for this exercise? Personally, I prefer doing hip thrust with the machine to using the normal barbell and bench for the following reasons

• Using the machine means that you don't have to set up the barbell and bench, which can be a hassle sometimes. It doesn't take up as much space as the machine is in its designated area.

• The machine is actually more beneficial to helping you grow your glutes. It helps to focus more on the glutes muscles as compared to using barbell or smith machine. This is because barbell or smith machine is like a compound exercise, so you may need to use all your body for it.

This is just my personal opinion. However, there is no right or wrong way to approach this. As long as you feel like your muscles are engaged and you're targeting the right group of muscles, it should be fine.
