Anxiety ✨ The hidden illness

I’ve heard it so many times

You have anxiety ???!

Yes I do…

Well you hide it so well!!

Well thank you, I guess.

Yes I have severe anxiety.

The kind leaves you homebound and in bed some days.

The kind that reminds you daily of your failures and that you’re not good enough.

The kind that tells you that you can’t go there

The kind that tells you it’s all scary, run

The kind that comes on no matter time of day or place

The kind that continues to spiral until your box is so small

It starts as a thought .. oh no but what if I

And then leaves you trembling and shaking in fear

Makes you feel like you’re loosing control

Not all illnesses are shown; according those to those around me if I never told them they would’ve never known

It’s stripped me of family and friends

It’s stripped me of a career

I want people to know though

It doesn’t define who I am

If you have anxiety

It doesn’t define who you are

It’s something we go through

And something we have to work through

But with his grace, faithfulness, promises and love .. we can learn to defeat it!!

The first step is loving yourself through it

Just like you would an anxious child

And be kind to yourself

Just like you would a crying child

But I want you to most importantly know

You’re not crazy

And

You’re not alone 🫶
