Not many know this HDB BTO trick! | MGPS Scheme

First up, we'd like to share about HDB's Multi-Generation Priority Scheme (MGPS).

What is the MGPS? Not many know that this scheme exists actually.

We applied under this scheme (and even got Queue Number 1!)

Basically, under this scheme, parents get a BTO (3 Room or 2 Room Flexi) and Married Child gets a BTO (2 Room Flexi or bigger) in the same project. You will get to live near your parents. Up to 15% of the flats are allocated for this scheme alone! That is a lot.

This is perfect for retiring parents who are looking to downsize and move to a more central location.

From this scheme, you and your parents will receive a total of 3 Queue Numbers - one Queue Number each for the typical public BTO, and one Joint Queue Number for the MGPS. Depending on how good which Queue Number is, both households have the flexibility to choose to either book a flat separately, or together!

Can we choose from ALL units? Nope! As there are many priority schemes, each scheme will have a random pool of flats for you to pick from! For example, since we and our parents got a Joint Queue Number 1 for MGPS, this means that we each had the first pick of the crop (for 4-Room and 3-Room units respective). Don't worry, this list will be sent to y'all way in advance prior to your flat selection appointment.

Can either you or your parents back out next time? Unfortunately, if either party decides to back out, the entire joint application would be void. We tried appealing, didn't work. So don't make your parents/in-laws angry :P
