Photographer diaries: shooting for eatmepoptart!!!

I was sooo nervous heading to this event because it was my first time shooting at an eatmepoptart event and they are such veterans in the industry. But THANK GOODNESS the night turned out so much better than I could’ve imagined!!!

The vibe was so intimate and welcoming and cosy, and because moonstone was pretty small I was basically shooting the same few groups over those few hours. Add that together with amazing music and plenty of drinky drinks and it was the perfect atmosphere!!!

As I made my rounds so many tables offered me drinks “put down the camera la!!!” “Are you allowed to drink on the job?” *hands me a drink* They asked for selfies with me instead of just group photos, danced and sang Chappell roan with me. By the end of the night I learned so many new names and so many people knew mine “TERI HELP US TAKE A PHOTO HERE” and it was the best feeling. Someone even yelled “you’re the best photographer we’ve had here!!!!” I mean he was clearly intoxicated but still, it made me feel very happy HAHA

The whole night I thought wow, these are humans just being humans - there was so much celebration! A bachelor party of >10 people, a group of 4 girls celebrating an engagement (the sweetest and kindest to me!!!!), a 30th birthday party!! They chatted with me and told me their stories and I told them mine. It’s crazy how much can happen in just 3 hours but it did. I chatted with the djs and the founder of eatmepoptart and learned a lot - these people have done so much for our nightlife in SG and it’s crazy to see how far they’ve come.

It was amazing to see how humans can connect if we all just let our guard down - when I look back at my photos, toward the end of the night it seemed like all the groups that came separately had blended together. People had their arms around new friends, strangers who weren’t part of the birthday celebration had the little party hats on their heads. We were all squished together on the dance floor, screaming the same lyrics to the same songs to each other. It was a special thing to see and a joy to capture on camera. I’ve been to my share of parties in SG and this atmosphere, this warmth, is something so rare.
