📍Marymount Bakehouse Singapore
💭 Thoughts:
Contrary to its name, marymount bakehouse is NOT at marymount but is located along race course road near farrer park mrt station! They used to be a home based bakery that has now established their flagship store here! They specialize in sourdough bakes and proudly do not use any additives at all - PURE SOURDOUGH. My friend was raving about their sourdough bakes (tgt with many people online) so figured I had to give it a try too! We reached at around 9.10am (they open at 9am!) on a Saturday morning and there were already people eating inside with a short queue (around 2 groups in front of us)! The queue moved fast but we had to wait a while for the bakes to be served to our table.
🍴Food:
1. Clams on Toast
- clams in white wine and cream, fried clams w bacon chips, on toasted sourdough bread
- clams on toast sounds like a weird combi but it kinda worked?? I actually quite liked the clams on this! And the bacon chips were pretty yummy! Could really taste the SOUR in the sourdough bread though haha
2. Drunken Chicken Pot Pie
- another one of their signature pies - black truffle levain crust, chicken cooked in shao ning wine reduction, shiitake mushrooms
- we couldn’t really taste the typical “drunken chicken” flavor of the wine so it just tasted like a normal chicken pie unfortunately
🤔Would go again?
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
The presentation of their bakes are really pretty! Their sourdough is also not bad! (Especially if you like a healthier option without any additives). Not sure if I went in with very high expectations, but I wouldn’t say I was MINDBLOWN by any of their bakes there. They were good but not fantastic, and the prices are quite steep? For both of the items we got, total was about $35 😱
