Queued for 20 mins @ Taka Foodie Delights Fair??

📍Food Village Takashimaya

New food fair at Takashimaya’s basement 2 until 14/15 Oct!!

💭 What we got:

1. Xiaogege’s matcha oreo cake box

- they are known for their mochi and crepe rolls but their cake boxes got me super intrigued!!

2. Dona Manis cake shop

- yes this is the famous banana pie shop from katong!!

- unfortunately their banana pie was sold out by the time we got there 😢 so if you want to guarantee a slice, better preorder!

- instead, we got their banana loaf and chocolate banana pie to try instead!

3. Bao Makers

- got their promo 5+1 free Bao

- have loved them since they had a physical shop but now they are only doing takeaways & popups

- flavors they had on sale: salted egg chicken, braised pork belly, pulled chicken w apple slaw, chilli crab, kakiage

- it was all super yummy!!! loved the salted egg chicken and chilli crab the most!!

4. Shio and Sato

- and ofc the one with the longest queue… shio pan!!

- queue was only allowed to start at 6pm and they don’t allow any preorders either! by the time we got there to queue around 5.50pm, there were already 10 people in the queue in front of us?? we finally got the goods at 6.20pm so it was total 20-30min?

- what we got: green chilli onion, miso butter corn, kombu seaweed, original

- all the shio pans are baked fresh on the spot at the popup so once they opened their ovens, the smell of butter filled the air and it was amazing!!

- the shio pans were also soft and really buttery and good!!

Unfortunately this is a time limited food fair but got to know some interesting new food businesses that I will continue to follow :) some of the items may be on the pricey side as well but that’s how it usually is for popups like these… hopefully taka does more of such food popups again!!
