Taking taxi in Japan can be expensive so most people would take train or bus to travel around.

Even when travelling to airport, mostly would take train or bus. Some may also opt for luggage transfer service for luggage to be sent to airport and they themselves then take train to airport. It seems to cost around $25 per bag in Osaka.

For my trip back from Osaka, I wanted to use the luggage transfer service from hotel in Namba to Kansai Airport, but the hotel told me there was cut-off time at 11 am and I wasnโ€™t in time. Besides, I had 3 bags and it would already cost $25 x 3 = $75 just to transfer the luggage.

Anyway since I wasnโ€™t in time for the luggage transfer service and I really didnโ€™t wish to be lugging 3 bags around the train station, I had to get hotel staff to help me book taxi.

The taxi service was really professional. Driver turned up in suit and hat, really taking his profession seriously. The taxi car was also clean and tidy, even with cloth cover for the seats.

The journey from Namba to Kansai Airport took almost 1 hour via expressway. Charges were based on meter.

The trip cost around 20,530 Yen. I was able to pay using credit card using the payment system.

Although It was quite expensive, at least I was able to get to airport safely with my bags. It also saved me from the hassle of having to push my trolley luggage plus carrying 2 other bags, and 1 small daypack around.

Would you spend this much on taxi ride?
