There are so many things that we “should” be doing. Exercising, learning new skills, cooking healthy meals, maintaining relationships… the list is never ending! But most of us don’t have the time to devote to each of these things on a daily basis.

That’s where habit stacking comes in. While habit stacking is traditionally a way to develop new habits (i.e. taking your vitamins right after brushing your teeth), I like thinking of habit stacking as a way to get the most out of the time you have by combining two habits into one.

Like drinking your morning coffee and taking that time to do a short meditation. Or calling a friend while you go for an afternoon walk. These are things that you can do at the same time, without negatively effecting your ability to do either. While your body is occupied, you mind can be focused elsewhere. Sometimes it's important to take time to be present and focused on only one thing but let's be honest… sometimes we have to squeeze in what we can, when we can.
