My husband and I got married in 2021 and it was the perfect day! All of our guested told us that it was one of the most fun weddings they had ever been to, and it was truly a dream come true for my husband and I AND we did it all for under $3,000.
How did we do it? We spent less in areas that didn’t matter as much to us (i.e. DJ, decor), asked for help from friends and family in several areas (venue, food, hair & make up), and found ways to save on things like photographers and tables and chairs.
Here’s exactly where we spent our money:
Dress: $587.43
Alterations: $364
Shoes: $33
Suit: $300
Flowers (and the other minimal decor we used): $250
Photographer: $600
Officiant: $125
Tables & Chairs: $225
Wedding Band: $93.69
Invitations: $100
Total: 2678.12
Of course, we could not have pulled this off without the help of friends and family. My parents have a beautiful home and because they allowed us to have our wedding there, we saved thousands! Our family was kind enough to bake trays of mac & cheese, bake potatoes and meat. My friend did my hair and minimal make-up. We couldn’t have done it without them!!
However, it's still possible to have a low-cost wedding if you don’t have access to these things! Look for local parks that you can rent for a low cost (there’s some we looked into that cost as little as $100 a day). Keep the guest list to a minimum and cater simple foods (my friend had pizza at her wedding). And choose a simple hair style that you can easily do yourself!
There are so many ways to make sticking to a budget easy if you think out of the box! And always remember… if you end the day married, it was a successful wedding!
