NOT GATEKEEPING: cheap flights to Tokyo and Seoul

Hi everyone! It’s my first ever lemon8 post! So I thought I should share the latest flights that I took to Tokyo and Seoul with you all

Basic info

- 3 different flights/airlines in total

- Flight period: 9 August 2024 (Friday) to 18 August 2024 (Sunday)

- Booking period: Early June 2024

- Total cost for all flights: $700

Flight Info (SG Changi to Tokyo Narita)

- Airline: Air Japan

- Flight Number: NQ4

- Date: 9 August 2024 (Friday)

- Cost (one way): $266~ (includes 23kg check in baggage and free seat selection)

- Pros: lots of leg space (feels like premium economy on a full service carrier), have personal air vents (for those who needs more aircon to themselves), high possibility of getting an empty row to yourself (there were still some empty seats on my flight even when it’s National Day), affordable in flight menu (if you are hungry during the flight), free charging ports (for both Apple and Android users)

- Cons: flight time (it’s at 1am ish so if you are a light sleeper, it’s hard to sleep onboard), high possibility of delays (there were major delays for some of the flights before mine. due to them only having two fleets, it’s hard to shorten the delays)

- Comments: personally enjoyed the whole flight, even though I’m a light sleeper, I could sleep comfortably during some parts of the flight. the cabin crews were very friendly too. would fly Air Japan again in the future

Flight Info (Tokyo Narita to Seoul Incheon)

- Airline: Asiana Airlines

- Flight Number: OZ101

- Date: 13 August 2024 (Tuesday)

- Cost (one way): $211~ (with 10% member discount)

- Pros: full meal on board (it’s free and already included in the ticket price. you can also request for special dietary meals before your flight. i’ve gotten the gluten free meal (GFML) which tasted better than the ones SATS (flights departing SG) provide, good leg space (it wasn’t as good as Air Japan),

- Cons: old entertainment system (limited selection compared to SQ/Cathay, interface also not as updated as other full service carrier)

- Comments: it was a really bumpy flight (one of the worse turbulence in my whole life) but i quite enjoyed the A380 experience

Flight Info (Seoul Incheon to SG Changi)

- Airline: Tway Air

- Flight Number: TW171

- Date: 17 August 2024 (Saturday)

- Cost (one way): $219~ (includes $11 seat selection and 30kg check in baggage)

- Pros: cheap

- Cons: Might have delays (was stuck at tarmac for about 40 mins ish with no reasons being communicated to passengers), flight timing is not ideal (dinner time till midnight/early morning), seats not very comfortable

- Comments: it was a very full flight and also not the smoothest. quite hard to sleep due to the constant noise and hard headrest. however, i’ll still take this flight as it’s the cheapest option
