MRT Breakdown got you stuck in NTU? This is for u.

If you’re an NTU student, the past few days have probably been super chaotic for you. Not only is it mid-terms season, but the MRT BROKE DOWN 💀 very coincidentally in our area 💔 With friends leaving the house at 6am but still being late for a 9.30am lesson and others taking the wrong bridging bus… I’ve never been so grateful to stay in hall.

That being said, I still needed to go home on Friday and based on the Reddit pics… I kind of wanted to avoid the East West line COMPLETELY. So this is what I did instead:

1. Take 199 from NTU to Westwood Secondary School

2. Cross the road and take 974 to Choa Chu Kang MRT Station.

Technically, you can take 172 from the same bus stop to CCK as well, but it would take really REALLY long. On the other hand, 974 is only four stops from Westwood Secondary to CCK because the bus takes the expressway!

Hope this helps for anyone who doesn’t want to wait for the train/bridging buses.

On the bright side, recess week is upon us (for NTU students) 😊 here’s to hoping the MRT is fixed soon because some of us still need to go back next week 🥲

P.s if you hate bus 199, you can take 179 from NTU to Pioneer MRT EXIT B, 974 goes there too! Just note that the bus journey to CCK will be longer :,)
