Let’s Get Real! Coming to Terms with ACNES 💌

𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒄𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 19. I used to feel ashamed of having acnes and acne scars all over my face, and I would cancel my plans with friends and stay at home whenever my acnes flared up. Every time I looked into the mirror, I didn’t like the person who was looking back at me and felt that I would be happier and prettier without all those acnes. 🥲

I would visit all the dermatologists in town, received tons of facial treatments and bought all the skincare products available under the sun. Yes. I was that desperate. Every time someone said “what happened to your face?” “your acnes have gotten worse” “there is a big acne on your face”, my self-esteem went down like a rollercoaster.

As I've grown older, I've realized that acnes and acne scars don't define who I am and shouldn't stop me from enjoying things in life. 𝑺𝒌𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚 for me means accepting that we're all human and perfection doesn't really exist. It doesn’t mean I will neglect all my skin problems and be happy with them. It means I am always trying to find suitable products for my skin while not losing confidence in myself even when acnes are flaring up or my skin is not looking the way I like.🖤
