As a student, I always used to be really thrifty because that’s simply how my parents brought me up. I would stinge on a lot of things and always go for the cheapest available option 😅

Having to navigate the perils and pains of the adult world, I’ve discovered that treating myself in small ways really changes my quality of life!!! and these are the things I’m trying to let myself enjoy more with my adult money 🥺

I used to buy only cheap activewear that made me feel like shit when I workout.

I really think it’s worth it to get yourself some damn Lululemons, especially if you’re looking to start your exercise journey and want to feel confident.

I LOVE LOVE the Wunder Train series which is just so perfect for heavy HIIT sessions. You can check out my comparison here 😉

It made a world of difference to how I felt when exercising!!! You don’t need to have a whole wardrobe of good activewear but just a few quality pieces can really make you that much more confident and excited to work out.

P.S. I totally disagree with people who say Lulus are not worth it bcus I honestly feel a difference when it comes to high-intensity sports. My 5-year old Lulus are still good as new. However, if I’m lifting in the gym or doing low intensity activities, then I’ll just use a regular set.

I love food, but I used to pay for memberships like Burpple Beyond and frequent apps like Eatigo to find meals. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but I refused to pay full price for meals and that made me miss out on a lot of other good food that wasn’t available on these platforms.

I’ve come to see it as indulging in myself every now and then eating out at places I really want to go to, without thinking so much about the price.

Please note that I do this every now and then (not every day cos sis is broke lol).......but it does give me something to look forward to and I get to share these experiences with different friends.

It also changed the way I view food, which is something I’ve struggled with and am still struggling with 🥹

As a student, I used to rely a lot on hostels and suspicious Airbnb. However, nowadays, if the price difference isn’t too large, I would 10/10 pay to stay in a hotel over a hostel or an Airbnb.

Not that hostels or Airbnbs are bad; I just like having my own personal space and environment. I also find that sacrificing my quality of sleep to save a few tenners each night isn’t worth it.

I personally think you shouldn’t scrimp on travel so that you fully immerse yourself in the experience. A restful night of sleep = more energy to traverse and explore the next day! ☺️

I am a lover of cheap facials and always have been but recently I decided to fork out some premium, medical-grade facials and it has made a world of difference to both my skin and my mental health.

I associate my facials with self-care and going to a place that has the ambience, products, and entire experience elevated just makes me feel that much more like a queen.

Once again, I clearly am a broke ass bitch so I can’t afford these every month. But when I need some extra time to myself, a good facial at these spots never fail to brighten my day and make me feel so much better.

Here are my some of my fave expensive treatments 😌

While these things mean forking out more money in the long run, it also gives me a deeper appreciation of life and helps me look out for my mental health. Splurging on small things every now and then also deters you from that urge to make a BIG splurge hehe.

I think these things definitely differ from person to person but as a 20-something adult, I realised that life is meant to be enjoyed and that means loving myself more along the way too, even in the smallest things.

What are some things you weren’t willing to splurge on in the past but you now do?
