If there’s anything I dislike about travelling, it’s probably the number cabin air does on my skin 😩 Cabin air is, after all, notoriously dry!

To avoid looking super crusty when I land, I try to tailor my skincare accordingly, I believe half the battle is won with a solid skincare routine before taking off — these are some of the things I use.

𝙈𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙚-𝙛𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚:

1️⃣ 𝘏𝘢𝘥𝘢 𝘓𝘢𝘣𝘰 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘏𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (great for pulling water into your skin and plumping it up, retains water so well!)

2️⃣ 𝘕𝘦𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘔𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰 𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 (a dupe for SKII — read here for more info!! Very lightweight and adds another layer of hydration)

3️⃣ 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰 𝘉𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘢 𝘉𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘹 𝘈𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘦 (to strengthen and nourish my skin)

4️⃣ 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘕𝘶𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 (a gel-based cream that hydrates and moisturises, safe even for sensitive skin)

5️⃣ 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘖𝘮𝘦𝘨𝘢-𝘊 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘥 (an oil made for humid climates, won’t clog pores and sinks into skin so nicely, keeps hydration locked in)

6️⃣ 𝘡𝘪𝘵𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘢 𝘔𝘌𝘎𝘈𝘚𝘏𝘈𝘋𝘌 (formulated for acne-prone skin, lightweight formula)

In general, any gentle, hydrating products will be great to battle the arid plane air, but here are some of my other tips when it comes to maintaining good skin during a long ass flight (especially if you’re headed to NYC omg I actually wanted to pass out it was SO LONG 😭😭)

𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁

WHEN I SAY I CHUG WATER, I mean it. I used to avoid drinking water bcus I hate going to the toilet on the plane, so now I always choose an aisle seat for easy access to the toilet. Keeping yourself hydrated is super important and also helps your skin.

In terms of keeping skin hydrated, hyaluronic acid is FR your best friend. Apply to damp skin and it’ll pull all the water right in and plump skin up nicely. I try to avoid touching up my skincare in-flight bcus 1. GERMSSS 2.

Adding things like HA onto dry skin can make it worse (same with misting your skin — please avoid it).

𝗢𝗶𝗹 𝘂𝗽!

I try to avoid heavy moisturisers and creams on the plane because the tendency to clog pores is real…also, mixed with the gross cabin air, it feels greasy and unpleasant on skin.

I love the above oil from Rooki, a local skincare brand. It has a really luxurious texture — it’s not oily and sinks right into skin. It helps prevent water from escaping and keeps skin really refreshed. Another really great oil to slug with is squalene!

𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿

At night, I’ll freshen up by washing my face (I bring my own water to rinse — airplane water is SUS AF). I use a micellar water to get the dirt and grime off, and then a gentle, non-stripping cleanser to clean my skin. Afterwards, I’d do a layer of hyaluronic acid onto damp skin and seal it in with a sleeping mask.

You’ll wake up with with super plump skin, even though you’ve slept so little (a tip I learnt from a Korean magazine is that the Laneige Sleeping Pack is popular amongst doctors-in-training bcus it makes skin look like they got 8 hours of sleep)

𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝗻-𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.

I KNOW, so many people and celebs always talk about the wonders of a sheet mask in-flight, but I find it really gross and rather do it when I get to my hotel after I land.

The same concept applies, leaving the mask till it dries up will sap moisture from your skin and make it look even drier, which is something you want to avoid.

I also just think it’s really messy to use on the plane HAHAHA.

𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻

I will always wake up before the sun comes up to slather on a thick layer of sunscreen. Being up in the sky means you’re so, so, so much closer to the sun, which is why sunscreen is clutch.

Besides all these, you have to avoid touching your face! I always bring hand sanitiser with me if the need arises.

〰️

While I love layering skincare products, skip the actives! It could aggravate your skin further :-(

Hope this helps and let me know if you want more deets on a specific product! ☺️
