Don’t be a hard worker 🫡

Reflecting on my own journey, I've learned that advocating for myself was crucial in the corporate world. You can’t only be a silent hard worker. It took time, practice, and a shift in perspective, but here are the strategies that really made a difference:

1️⃣ Clear communication has been crucial - I've learned to express my ideas, concerns, and needs in a confident, assertive way. Saying 'no' when the workload gets overwhelming hasn't been easy, but it's been essential.

2️⃣ Documenting my achievements made them impossible to overlook. Maintaining a record of my contributions helped me see my own growth, and proved invaluable during performance reviews and negotiations.

3️⃣ I made it a priority to know my worth - and not just in terms of self-confidence. I researched industry standards for salaries and benefits, using this information to advocate for fair compensation.

4️⃣ Building a network has been more than just a means to opportunities - it's been a source of support, inspiration, and shared wisdom.

The journey of self-advocacy at work is always a work in progress, but I've come a long way and these strategies have been key!
