In my previous video, I have shared how to build a sourdough starter from scratch.
If you are following a gluten-free diet or is interested to explore gluten-free baking, this post is for you!
I hope youβre as excited as me because I am about to share with you the easiest way to build a new GF sourdough starter from scratch EVER, and with zero waste! π€π€π€©π€©
No tricks, no gimmicks, no complicated instructions nor ingredients ππ
Things you need :
β A clean jar
β Water
β Gluten-Free Flour (I used Brown Rice Flour)
β A Tablespoon (or 15g)
Optional but recommended
β A sturdy, flat-edged spatula
β An elastic band
I posted a video on 8 April 2023 where I shared how to build a sourdough starter with zero discard and many of you got inspired and were successful in building your own starter. Congratulations! π₯³π₯³
Since the requests for a GF starter flooded my inbox soon after, I tested this method with a GF flour and it worked!
π« Days 1-3 (1X Daily)
Add 1 tbsp water + 1 tbsp GF flour
π« Day 4 onwards (2X Daily)
Add 1 tbsp water + 1 tbsp GF flour
And thatβs it! No more confusion about how much to discard!
This is my very first attempt at building a GF sourdough starter. It took me by surprise when it started to double on the 7th day because there was no visible activity from Days 2-6.
My average proofing temperature was ~25-28C.
Excited about the GF bread I can bake with this new starter π€©π€©
Happy Weekend my lovely Bread Fam β£οΈ
