Dilemma of My 5 Digits Salary Role

Many times when people know how much I am earning from my salary, they would think how nice it would be in my position. They see the surface but don’t see the struggles and stress I am getting from the high-paying role.

Whenever I opened my What’s App chats, there would be endless amount of conversation or discussions from the respective functions or leadership team that continuously go beyond working hours or sometimes even weekends. They do not all need my attention, but I just do not like it when it starts infringing my personal space or when I’m trying to “switch off” mentally especially after work hours.

Before the start of work, I’m continuously having to think about the project pain point and issues or situations and having to present and propose a solution to it. I have to get enough attention to the leaders team by setting up meetings which includes details such as the topics presentations for the meeting that day, who are the nasties in the meeting and how to deal with them politically and be nice, which person I have to deal with after.

During the work day, it is not uncommon to have meetings that can span up to 6 hours a day and not having enough downtime to run through emails and do the actual stuff. I also can’t irresponsibly just drop off certain aspects of works because of the level my role is in.

I like certain aspects of the work but I wish I could just slow it a tad down and have more time for downtime, reflect and just work things on my pace. Unfortunately, I think our society is all just about chasing deadlines after another, solving cases one after another.

So yes the salary looks nice at the end of the month, but I actually prefer to half my salary at half the work I am doing if that’s a possible route to have.
