1️⃣ I journaled to get in touch with what was going on ✍🏻

Oftentimes when I’m in a rut, I find it hard to process what’s going on or even how I’m really feeling. Everything just feels so jumbled up within me. Journaling allows our thoughts and feelings to stop swirling around aimlessly within us and to flow out and be clearly seen on the page, so that we can start to asses how we’re doing, what might be causing how we’re feeling, and things we can do about it. I shared my journaling prompts and personal responses in my previous post.

2️⃣ I opened up about how I was feeling 💕

Whether we are opening up to a friend, family member, partner, or therapist, it is so valuable to share how we’re doing with another human. On Wednesday I opened up to my husband that I had been feeling burnt out and disconnected. After talking about it, we both realized that we had been so busy hosting parties and hanging out with friends lately that we completed neglected quality 1-on-1 time together. We couldn’t even recall the last time we had a proper date night! My husband immediately canceled his Wednesday night plans, and we spent the evening eating dinner together, going on a walk around the neighborhood, and buying some snacks and doing a cozy movie night!

3️⃣ I took better care of myself and my home 🏠

When we are feeling stagnant and stuck in a rut, taking better care of ourselves and our living environment is such an important place to start. When our internal world is healthy and well taken care of, that health and vibrancy ultimately flows out into our external world too. This week I focused a lot on taking care of myself by taking lots of walks, taking warm showers and feeling clean, washing my bedsheets and pillowcases, and cooking healthy meals each day. I took care of my home by washing the dishes each day, doing the laundry, and vacuuming the floors. Every act of care towards ourselves and our home makes us feel so much more confident, empowered, and at peace.
