THE CRISPIEST BAKED FRENCH FRIES I’VE EVER MADE 🚨🚨🚨 I have cracked the code.
Turns out it’s actually the simplest thing. Shout out to my mom for giving me the key! 🔑🔑🔑
Okay here’s the process step-by-step: 📝
1. Wash and dry 1-2 russet potatoes. 🥔🥔
***Pro-Tip: each potato makes like 50 individual French fries, so if you’re a party of one, one potato should be more than enough. 🌝
2. Cut the potatoes into matchsticks. By matchsticks I mean, lengthwise until they are about 1/2 an inch in length. 📏
***Pro-Tip: the fatter the matchstick, the longer it’s going to take them to bake and get crispy. Also, I like to leave the skin on the potato for two reasons: (1) it’s good for you and (2) peeling potatoes is my least favorite activity (just sayin). 😐
3. Put all your matchsticks in a bowl and add cold water until they are covered. 💧
4. Leave them to soak for at least an hour. 🛁
5. Turn your oven on to 400 degrees. Remove them from the water bath and dry them thoroughly.
***Pro-Tip: an easy way to dry your matchsticks is to put them in a paper-towel lined kitchen towel and roll them up in it. Squeeze the towel gently and unroll it from the towel. 🧖🏽♀️
6. Place them in a dry bowl and add some olive oil and your favorite seasoning salt (I used adobo). Toss to coat. 🧥
7. Place them on a baking sheet without overlap.
8. Bake them until they reach your desired crispness. For me, it’s at least 20 minutes. ⏲️
9. Serve and enjoy! 😋
Let me know how you like it!
