Making friends on Bumble BFF? 👭🏼🐝

I’ve been on Bumble BFF 🐝 since 2018 - I first used it when I was interning in LA by myself! I didn’t know anyone and wanted friends to explore the area with. Since then, I’ve used it after graduating and moving back to Seattle. I honestly have a huge love hate relationship with the app.

Here’s how my experience went:

I do think it’s super valuable for meeting people in a new city, when you don’t have many ways to! 💗 I’ve met some amazing people on the app and think it’s totally possible to make great connections on it.

However, it is EXHAUSTING to friend date virtually (vs meeting organically)! There was a period about two years ago where I was going on 1-2 friend dates a week, which was so tiring. Because you’re matching with potential friends after a quick glance at their online profile, it’s hard to see if you will actually really connect.

I went through periods where I would chat with them online for a while before meeting them, but then I realized how difficult it was to really feel their vibe unless we were in person! But meeting so many new people in person and going through the same get to know you convos got old so fast. It often felt difficult to get into deeper conversations and I burnt out QUICK.🥺

Today, I’m not on the app anymore. I still talk to a few of the people I met on there, but not too frequently. I can see myself trying the app again, but I’ve honestly had more success DMing people on Instagram instead! 😌
