Unpopular parenting opinions

These are my unpopular parenting opinions

1. No screen time: There is so much research out there about the negative effects of tv on children. Screen time can negatively affect executive functioning, sensorimotor development, and academic outcomes. I will try to avoid it as long as I can

2. No artificial dyes: They have been linked to ADHD in children and other behavioral issues. These are banned in other countries, if that doesn’t tell you anything 😅 These companies don’t care about your health, so it’s up to use to make the better decisions

3. No cry it out: I’m someone that can’t stand hearing my baby cry. Babies cry to communicate with us, the only way they know how. Crying is stressful for babies, so their brains will flood their bodies with cortisol(the stress hormone) which causes long-term damage to the brain itself. They stop crying eventually because they know nobody is coming to get them 🥹 There is gentle sleep training out there that doesn’t require crying it out. You can teach your baby to sleep without leaving them to cry
