When it comes to vinyl flooring, there are many different types that you can choose for your home. Homeowners usually choose from these 3 main types of vinyl flooring and in this post, I will explain the different types and uses for vinyl flooring.

1. Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) 🌿

VCT is quite a popular form of vinyl flooring used. It comes in many varieties of patterns and colours. Easy for homeowners who are looking to DIY their flooring as it is easier to install, cut and fit into irregular spaces.

However, compared to other forms of vinyl flooring. VCT flooring has much lesser design options as compared to Luxury Vinyl Flooring. It has a shorter lifespan and also it may allow water to penetrate in it cause of the seams it has.

2. Luxury Vinyl Flooring (LVF) 📑

LVF or luxury vinyl tile, is more rigid and thicker compared to vinyl sheets, VCT and vinyl tiles. It has a tongue-and-groove lock system that clicks together making it easy and fast to set up, repair and change.

Although it might cost slightly more compared to the other three vinyl flooring, LVF has a longer lifespan and is easier to maintain as compared to the other types of flooring. It also offers a larger variety, colour and even texture (wood, stone, ceramic) as compared to the other vinyl flooring types.

3. Vinyl Sheet 📄

Vinyl sheets come in long rolls which allows them to be much better at repelling water due to lesser seams in between the flooring. It is best used for waterproof installation and also due to its inexpensive cost and quick installation, it makes it one of the best options if waterproofing is your consideration for the flooring.

However, this can be difficult to install and measure due to it coming in huge rolls and also difficult to repair as it is usually one whole sheet, and to repair and replace would be taking out the whole sheet of the flooring.

Vinyl flooring has many advantages over other types of flooring such as hardwood and tiles. It is generally much cheaper and also easier to maintain.

The three types of vinyl flooring mentioned above have their pros and cons depending on what you are looking for. Vinyl sheets are great for waterproofing, VCT is good for DIY and saving costs and LVF is generally better overall but more costly.
