10K to lay vinyl for 4RM HDB bare-floor

At the end of week 4 of our renovation.. we finally got our floor done!!! Pretty happy with how it turned out and thought we could share about the cost behind our Vinyl and the hiccups along the way

💰 Price: Contrary to belief, vinyl isn’t a cheap alternative to tiling! Our ID’s quote was just a 200$ difference between vinyl versus tiling (capped tile at 3.5$/psf)

The reason behind the hefty price tag is because our HDB unit came bare, so we had to 1) screed cement; 2) apply self levelling compound; 3) overlay vinyl. We are rather happy with the end result and feel that it fits better with the theme of the renovation compared to tile work (ps: there are tile work that could give off similar feel, but it exceeds our budget quite a fair bit, because of higher labor cost + those tiles would exceed 3.5$/psf)

You might have noticed that this vinyl color looks different from our 3D rendering.. one part is that rendering Color are surely abit different from actual.. but the main reason is because - our ID didn’t reserve the initial vinyl for us, and it went OOS, so we had to source for an alternative

I’m not sure what is the common practice for IDs, but we were quite stressed and upset when we were told that our first choice of vinyl went OOS, the week our floor work was supposed to commence. To add on this also resulted in a full week of delay in our renovation schedule 😕🙁☹️

But Anw, we dropped Evorich and went for Xingfloor in the end, because we really just can’t afford to wait 2 months for it to be restocked :( but Anw, we are happy with the alternative so all is good now!
