There's a new Italian place in the West Village, and I had heard really good things about it, especially the pasta. It's called "Ambra" and located at 469 Hudson St, open Th-Sun 5-12.
I went with my Dad and we had an amazing time - the staff was so friendly and welcoming, we ended up spending 3 hours chatting with them and ordering plate after plate.
It's moderately priced and this is part of their focus, to make great Italian food that is accessible. Most appetizers were $10-18 and mains were $22-35. The portioning was just right, not too much or too little, althought I wouldn't have minded having some leftovers to eat later!
We shared some peppers ($19) and the artichoke ($19) appetizers, both were delicious, the artichokes were crispy and came with a lemon aioli, and the peppers were well seasoned.
For mains I got the paccari ($25) and my dad got the tagliatelle ($24) and both were some of the best pasta we've ever had. They didn't have a lot of sauce or toppings, but let the freshness and quality of the homemade pasta shine.
This was a wonderful place for dinner and could be fun for drinks later in the night, I would absolutely go back again! Ambra #Lemon8partner #nycfoodreview #nycguide
