5D4N at Takayama

As shared earlier, Takayama was our base and we used Shoryudo bus pass to travel to different places. I stayed at the Residence Hotel Takayama Station, which is just next to the Nohi bus station which made travelling even easier.

Places to visit at Takayama:

1. Shrines to see their architecture and landscape

2. Takayama old town (go on a weekend when more shops are open)

3. Sanmanji Suji. There is a brewery shop where you buy a sake cup from a gashapon machine to taste their different types of sake at ¥100 each full cup.

4.Miyagawa morning market. Have your breakfast here while you stroll along the street. Many street food.

Hida beef is popular in Takayama and is a must try. You can see many restaurants selling it. A few recommendations can be seen in the pictures.

Heianraku is run by an old couple and only has 10 seats. Every evening is fully booked. We managed to get a slot at 5pm through email. The wife speaks good English and is very friendly. They made home cook Japanese food, which is worth trying.
