TODAY I FORGIVE YOU, MATCHAYA 🍵

Anyone who knows me well enough would know my extreme dislike for Matchaya (a staff once sold me a “matcha jam” even though the matcha jam was no longer in sale, and I ended up opening the container to a green/grey powder... customer service was also really bad, the email subject read literally as “service recovery”).

But a friend suggested going for a matcha appreciation workshop and I decided to give it a shot so here we are, standing at the finishing line where my resentment ends 🤣 after all, a self-proclaimed matcha snob needs to be put into place amirite??

I found the 1.5h session really informative and it was clear the instructor was so passionate. The room was also giving school science lab which was a major throwback.

🍵 We started the first 30 min with an interactive presentation which introduced methods of growing green tea leaves and processing them into matcha powder. (Listen up fam — MATCHA POWDER SHOULD BE A DARK VIBRANT GREEN, AND GOOD MATCHA SHOULD TASTE SIAP)

🍵 Then a 30 minutes smell and taste test which taught us how to sip matcha before we wrapped up with a DIY session!!! (Left the recipe in the comments below!)

I love that we were given ceremonial grade matcha to drink (U.P. $7 per cup), but was low key disappointed they didn’t give us milk to make a matcha latte (soz unni here is basic). I ALSO THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA GIVE US A TIN OF MATCHA POWDER EACH + A WHISK BUT NOOOOOOOO WE WEREN’T **CRIES IN MATCHA**

Ok one last fun fact… did you know houjicha is decaf? I LEARNT SO MUCH TODAY FROM MATCHAYA, I THINK I FORGIVE THEM FOR THAT ONE BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. We good now, matchaya!!! 🤝🙂‍↕️
