Winter in Tasmania - Our Itinerary

DAY 1

-Reach Launceston airport and collect your car

-Check into your accomodation- we stayed at Freycinet resort, it was extremely beautiful 💕

- Explore Freycinet (cape tourville lighthouse, Richardsons beach campground etc)

DAY 2

- Explore Freycinet part 2 (Wineglass bay)

- Drive to Mount Wellington

- explore Mount Wellington

- Check into hotel at Hobart

DAY 3

- Bonorong wildlife sanctuary

DAY 4

- Drive to West wilderness Railway (WWR) - This is at least a 5 hour drive, you may have to start very early.

- Drive from WWR to Cradle mountain

- Check in at hotel - We stayed at Cradle mountai. Hotel, it’s like a cabin like feel.

Day 5

- Explore Cradle mountain

- I reccomend staying at least two days

Day 6

- Drive back to launceston airport

Tasmania is very big, and I suggest you spend at least 2 days in each place if your schedule accommodates so that you are well rested because we were very exhausted with the constant packing and driving.

You can also choose to go Bruny Island - but we forgo-ed it because it seemed a little out of the way.

Tasmania in winter is also very beautiful and it’s the best chance to catch the southern lights!! But our luck was quite bad and we didn’t managed to catch any!

So make sure to plan your days properly if catching the southern lights is your priority! I hope you have better luck than we did 🤍😌
