Choosing to do my PWS nails myself - yes or no?

Honestly, this could go both ways.

Firstly, I’m a v practical person …. If it costs cheaper for the same option, I will go for the cheaper option, as long as it doesn’t affect:

- my health

- my skin

- the outcome

Secondly, for something like nails, it literally lasts a month at most? I personally would rather spend that $100-200 a month on many pieces of clothes instead. Or bbt. Or skincare and makeup. Or even get a gym membership.

I ended up doing my own gel mani for my PWS even though my nails are usually too brittle n soft for gel.

For context, I usually do my own extensions, but I never attended any classes or actively watch nail videos. I don’t even practice, I just straight away do my own nails lol …. So if the set I does look like sh*t, I just deal w it for the next 3 weeks till I remove.

POV to do my own nails for my PWS-

PROS✅

1. SAVE COST 💸

It’s $75-180 to do extensions outside ….. 😓

Probably asked around 20 different places, both home based and at the malls.

It’s not even that hard to put on extensions …. It’s just hard to put extensions on BY YOURSELF. Not sure why they charge extra $30-150 just to have the extensions option. 😐 sorry, couldn’t find the willpower to part with so much in one seating … 😔

2. NO EVENING SLOTS FOR ADULTS 🙃

The cheaper options of $75ish were home based, but also the slots are like all before 5pm? If not, evening slots are always sold out v quickly even 1.5 months before at booking time. Really suited only for students / homemakers and not working adults sigh.

3. YOU CAN BUY AN EN ENTIRE NAIL KIT WITH $200

I have 70 polishes, lamp, mini lamp for extensions, drill, and many nail tools ….. literally all costs a total of <$200? N I’m very sure if you don’t have itchy hand to buy so many colours it costs less than $100 to last you more than 10 sets 🥹

CONS🚫

1. IMPERFECT APPLICATION 👨🏻‍🎨

As mentioned, I didn’t go for class or practice as frequently, so I’m rly not the best. If you’re someone who is very particular about perfect nails with quality nail polish instead taobao bought, then I suggest to just go to the salon and spend.

I also had to do without extensions because I know I cannot apply extensions very well on my own.

Anw, just my personal opinion. I gave this a lot of thought n ultimately I decided to do my own nails after a 2 week frenzy (1 month before shoot) as I couldn’t find an affordable nail artist with a slot time for a working adult like myself.
