Have you ever had any or all of the above happen to you? If so, it's probably an anxiety attack. Good thing is - it's totalllyyy okay. If there's anything I know it's how to navigate and cope when my anxiety attacks come. Let me walk you through how I deal and just maybe it'll help you too:
WHEN YOU FEEL IT COMING:
- I focus on my breath. Count to 3 and do something to immediate distract me, like jump up from my seat, drink ice cold water, or walk around my apartment.
- I try to focus on keeping my breathing steady. I even usually sing to myself if I can. It helps my breathing without really thinking about it.
DURING:
- There's little you can do other than to let the emotions flow.
- I always try to keep myself grounded in some way. Cuddle with my dog or pillow, suck on an ice cube, or my rubber band theory.
AFTER:
- Reflect. Reflect. Reflect. And reward myself! I love a good scoop of butter pecan ice cream whenever I get out of my spells.
