Too many new runners start running and think they need to go right into a “run everyday and run faster than my last run” mentality. Remember that when you’re new to something it’s going to be tough!
Before you build speed and endurance you just have to build consistency.
Start with a walk/run a couple of times a week and increase the proportion of running over time! For example:
Week 1: 90 sec walk 30 sec run
Week 2: 60 sec walk 30 sec run
The key to running is building up durability AND efficiency and ramping up this way allows the body to ease into it.
