My big three in mermaid movies

1) Une Sirène à Paris translated to A Mermaid in Paris. This movie is from 2020 and to me it is a 9.5/10. In this a mermaid gets trapped on land and a man shows the mermaid the human world. There is one catch though, every man that meets her dies so her new companion is on borrowed time. My favorite detail of this movie has to be that mermaids cry pearls which is something I have never seen in any film.

2) my childhood favorite was Fishtales from 2007. A widowed father and his daughter live in England and they go to a tiny island in Greece for the summer so the professor can study ancient love spells. The daughter befriends the mermaid who I turn as a favor helps the professor translate a spell and they accidentally cast it and the two fall in love. This causes a string of unfortunate events to happen with a well loved ending!!

3) Lure is definitely a different type of mermaid film. I would say the duo, two girls, fall more under the lines of sirens. This is a musical that follows the pair where they travel on land to experience human life, mainly love, lust, and desire. One catch is that here mermaids feast on humans and not just kelp. The ending is tragically bittersweet but it is to be expected because of the begging parts of the film.
