if you're like me and like a thriller but don't like to be haunted all night by what you saw, here are some movies that have scares, laughs, and most importantly, won't keep you up all night.

1. Ready or Not

A bride who must survive the night while her new in-laws try to eliminate her? Perfect, count me in. This movie has laughs and thrills. Watch on Hulu or Tubi

2. Shaun of the Dead

Shaun is a loser who lives with his best friend. Despite him being 30+, he's immature. Suddenly he must grow up and protect his girlfriend and mother from the Zombies invading his town. Watch on Peacock

3. Bodies Bodies Bodies

Young adults stuck in a mansion during a hurricane. What could possibly go wrong? When a party game ends with a dead body, it's clear that no friend can be trusted while they figure out the killer. Watch on Netflix and Hulu

4. What We Do In The Shadows

Three vampires living in the 21st century with a hipster roommate, all filmed in mockumentary style. This film spurred the creation of the TV series. Rent on YouTube or Amazon Prime

5. Werewolves Within

A creature is killing off people one by one, and a bunch of strangers are stuck in an inn, forced to figure it out while they survive. This has some witty dialogue and familiar faces that make for an easy going watch. Watch on Amazon Prime (with subscription).

6. Gremlins

A man buys his son a special Christmas gift from a local shopkeeper. He's advised to never expose it to water or sunlight and not to feed it after midnight. The cute little Christmas gift turns into a bunch of Gremlins terrorizing the town on Christmas eve. Watch on YouTube TV or rent from YouTube or Amazon Prime.

7. Rocky Horror Picture Show

This cult classic musical follows Brad and Janet, a newly married couple whose car breaks down in the rain. They go to a nearby house to ask to use a phone, only to be brought into a home filled with transsexual aliens. Rent on Amazon or YouTube

8. The Menu

A couple travel to this island to try this world-class, mysterious chef's exclusive new restaurant, but things get darker and more frightening as the night goes on. Watch on Amazon Prime and Hulu.

9. Freaky

A serial killer and 17-year-old girl switch bodies, and she has 24 hours to figure out how to switch back before she's stuck as a middle-aged, homicidal maniac forever. Watch on Hulu and Peacock.
