How to dog sit??

🐾 I started my dog sitting journey when I was living in Australia with my friend. She has her own dog, and he was a puppy when he first came home. That was how I learned how to take care of puppies and she also taught me how to dog sit. Dog sitting is very popular in Australia for students as it was a very good side income. Dog sitting puppies and adult dog is very different as there’s a lot of patience and care needed for puppies. For puppies, they will usually do their business everywhere in the house as they are not toilet trained yet. They will chew all your furniture and shoes as they are teething and they tend to eat a lot more meals than adult dogs. It’s easier to dog sit adult dogs as they have been trained by their owners and they won’t be as active as puppies.

Some dogs are so quiet that you won’t even feel their presence at home. In Singapore I use this app call Pawshake where dog owners can book me for daycare/overnight services. It depends on how much you want to charge them but for me I based it on the market rate. But the app charged 19% for the service fee so if you’re the dog sitter, you will lose 19% for each booking 💀 If you want to dogsit, you will need to apply for the “sitter license” where you only need to upload any dog pics that you took care before/ your own dog pics and fill in the details accordingly. I waited for my license for around 1 week before they approved me on the app. It’s actually very easy to take care of dogs and you only need to feed them 2-3 times a day and bring them out to walk once or twice a day. I usually walk the dogs in the morning and at night for them to do their business and if their overnight stay is on a weekend, I will bring them out to the dogparks for them to play with other furbabies. Dog sitting do not require any commitment as they are not your own dog, but you NEED to be responsible and care for it like your own. Sometimes you might get too attached to certain dogs after staying at your place for a long time and you will feel sad when they leave your place ☹️ Dog sitting have made me super happy as I LOVE dogs very much and I’m planning to adopt one soon! 🐶
