Went in excited, came out disappointed ☹️

Cafe Hachi 🍵 has been on my list for the longest time ever because im such a huge fan of matcha!! Some background, Cafe Hachi is a matcha cafe/ bar from Fukuoka, Japan and they specialises in matcha desserts and vegan dishes.

We went after lunch to try out their specialty matcha desserts. First impressions, the interior and vibes was nice and reminded me of a modern Japanese teahouse. It was also quite quiet when we were there at 3PM.

The menu looked rather extensive online but we were shocked to find out that most of the desserts were not available. In fact the lady told us that only 2 desserts (cheesecake & pudding) was available. We were also told that they don’t make every dessert daily and it really depends on luck(?)

Disappointed, we then ordered 2 matcha basque cheesecake and 3 whisked matcha to share. For the whisked matcha, there were 3 ceremonial grades to choose from and we picked Okumidori which is typically used in making matcha desserts and has the strongest matcha aroma.

However, the whisked matcha tasted rather flat? It was bitter or sweet at all and it may be due to the quality of the matcha powder. Also, it wasn’t whisked well too because there was still chunks of powder at the bottom. The matcha basque cheesecake was not bad but it really just tasted like the normal cheesecake. We couldn’t really taste the matcha ☹️

Overall, it was a disappointing experience and the items available were definitely #NotForMe 😩 It also didn’t really make sense to us that it’s almost impossible to find out which days a specific dessert is available 🥲
