I feel like a really silly beanie for never having tried warm sake before 😩 (or cold sake, for the record)

AND NOW I’VE TRIED IT & it’s mindblowing haha!

@Salty_Sea_Pearl and I tried SAKEMARU Artisan Sake Hideout after going for the Studio Ghibli exhibition 🥰

We tried the following dishes:

1. Sashimi platter - the sashimi was really fresh

2. Fig tempura - this was really interesting! the figs are deep fried in tempura batter and then salted. It’s salty at first bite and sweet on the inside. One of my favourites from their autumn seasonal menu.

3. Wagyu beef curry rice - this was really interesting because we didn’t expect the curry to be BLACK! but it was a really comforting dish

4. Pork loin - this was really good!!

5. WARM SAKE - and then the star of the show! So Sakemaru, as the name suggests, specializes in sake and carry more than 150 types of sake. We asked for their recommendations for affordable sake that would taste good warm. Their recommendation did not disappoint - it felt like I was transported to Japan, in the deep of autumn, sipping sake with an old friend, in a sea of red. 😊 I’m only mildly exaggerating but this was an oddly comforting drink.

Sakemaru has affordable weekday lunch sets ($25 for a main dish, soup and salad?!) and omakase ($150 per person), which I cannot wait to try!
