HDL ALTERNATIVE @ One Holland Village??😟

Located at One Holland Village, does HIPPOT 潮爷来了 fit the bill 🎯? Read on to find out!

Visited around 645pm on a Thursday and we were seated pretty quickly. Ordering is done via a QR code so there’s no need to speak to anyone 😌 Food also came rather quickly which was great probably cause the restaurant wasn’t super packed!

We weren’t super hungry but we ordered quite a number of dishes ✨

1️⃣ Soup Bases (choose 2)

- Chaoshan Beef Soup Base ($8.90)

Rich beef soup that was very hearty 😫💕 there’s corn and pieces of meatballs in it too. Highly recommended if you want something different and would like some beef soup haha 🐮

- Tomato Soup Base ($7.90)

Tomato soup can’t go wrong 🥹 of course there are tomato chunks and also very tasty overall! It’s the typical go to if you eat at HDL often and if you don’t hate tomatoes 😅 or maybe it’s very basic…idk but no hate on tomato soups 🥹

They have other soup options as well such as Mala Spicy Soup / Collagen Soup / Herbal Pork Belly Chicken / Pork Rib Soup / Mushroom Soup / Tom Yum Soup / Sour and Spicy Golden Soup / Mala Spicy Soup (Butter Base) >> All at either $8.90 or $7.90 ✨

2️⃣ Jumbo Platte ($18.90) >> ($15.90)

1-metre long plate of Iberico Black Pork & U.S Premium Beef. This is a really good deal if you love both pork and beef like me ✨ Portion is alright but you can always order another set or add on other meat dishes!

3️⃣ Pig Liver ($4.90)

The egg made it look cool and milky but taste wise it was average 😅…HDL one tastes better so you can skip this if you’re not a huge pig liver fan

4️⃣ Potato Slices ($2.90)

Ordered this because I wanted a vegetable dish and I wasn’t going to pay $3.90 for Cabbage 🥲…some slices were thicker than others so they took abit longer to cook. But overall they just taste like regular potato haha 🥔

5️⃣ King Oyster Mushroom ($2.90)

Thinly sliced which was great and the mushroom really soaked up the soup 🥰 honestly king oyster is underrated, possibly better than enoki…though I love both equally 🤍 but having both in the same meal kinda feels like too much but to each their own!

6️⃣ Maggie ($1+)

It’s just regular Maggie and I forgot the price haha just need some carbs 🥲 and Maggie soaking up the soup is 💯

7️⃣ Fried Man Tou (forgot the price 🥲 but was about $4~$5+)

Similar to tomato soup, can’t go wrong 🤡 unless it’s really soggy and not fried well. However these man tous were great and paired with the usual condensed milk! Probably one of my must orders when I eat hotpot!

8️⃣ Rice Cake with Brown Sugar (forgot the price too but $5+ I think)

Actually ordered the same dish in HDL but didn’t really enjoy it however this was not bad! Don’t think that it’s a MUST get but it’s a side dish to consider trying if you’ve never tried it.

9️⃣ Dessert (9 different ones to choose from and FREE)

- Orea Potted

White jelly slices with finely crushed Oreos. Kinda giving chocolate jelly after mixing but it’s not too bad. I think kids will love it!

- Cheese Pudding

Yellow blob tasted like nothing honestly. I love cheese but this tasted like plain jelly… or maybe my tastebuds are not working. I’ll skip this if I were you but if you have tummy space to try then go ahead

There are other desserts such as Matcha Jelly and Passionfruit and Yogurt Jelly etc. they are all FREE so eat to your heart’s content 💕

You can create your own sauce concoction as always!

Overall Damage: ~$70 total, $35+/pax after GST and Service Charge. However, prices on the menu exclude GST and service charge!

👩‍⚖️Overall Verdict👨‍⚖️

If you are in the area and want a hotpot fix then I think this would be a cheaper and more affordable option over HDL or Beauty in the Pot. $35/pax for a decent amount of food, I think it’s pretty alright. The food don’t taste bad and the service is okay. They actually forgot about our rice cake with brown sugar dish and it only came when we were almost halfway done…we ate really slowly 😅

They also have lunch sets, drink towers, bingsu looking dessert (which was OOS) etc.

If you’ve not tried HIPPOT, do give it a shot 💕 As always there are some hits and misses so eat with an open mind and stomach haha! At least your wallet wouldn’t have such a big hole 😅😅 really want to try their Prawn and Cuttlefish with Roe the next time I’m there! 🦐
