Small Space, Joy in Every Corner 🏠

We moved into our first home in mid-September 2022!

After living in larger spaces - he in a landed house in his home country and I in a 5-room flat- we’re now embracing our cosy 3-room resale flat, which we feel will be our forever home.

Here’s why we chose this space:

- Affordability

- Easy to clean

- More subsidies and rebates

As a local-foreigner couple, applying for a Build-To-Order (BTO) was off the table until my husband’s PR application was approved after our wedding. Initially, we rented a room from a friend, but with our son growing so quickly, we decided to explore BTO options. Unfortunately, despite the priority schemes, we weren’t successful.

Turning to the resale market, we found a place within 4km of my parents’ home and surrounded by great amenities. While the quirky layout of the living room is a bit unconventional and the space isn’t massive, it’s still larger than many BTO options. My home brings me so much joy and happiness; it’s incredibly comfortable. I believe that with creative use of space and a minimalist approach, our humble abode can meet all our daily needs. After all, it’s not about the size of the house, but the happiness it brings. Quality over quantity!

Even if our lifestyle changes in the future, we have the flexibility to upgrade. I’m excited to create new memories with my little family here!

P.S. I wrote this when I only had my firstborn, but it's been sitting in my drafts forever. Now, I have 2 kids!
