being laid off sucks...BUT I'm getting paid 👀💸

So...my entire department was recently laid off due to budget cuts.

While being laid off is never good news, I was already planning to leave this company and find a new job -- so the timing does work out. It also helps that the severance package provided by my (ex)-employer is SUPER generous.

Basically, I stay on payroll until March 15th under what's called "garden leave" (basically, I get paid like normal but I don't work). On top of that, I also get a severance payout and various stipends.

Basically, I’m being paid extra to do what I was already going to do: find a new job 🤷‍♀️
