Reserved 2 months in advance, been in the bucket list for more than 2 years, the long-awaited reservation at Burnt Ends is finally here!

📍- After closing down at their Tanjong Pagar location, Burnt Ends is finally up and running again at Dempsey. As it’s not too hard to get around at Dempsey, Burnt Ends was tucked away in the corner of Dempsey. But we followed the map so we didn’t get lost. They also opened a bakery next to the restaurant that sells their baked goods (including some of the dessert served at the restaurant!). So make sure to check that out!

✨ - I don’t know why, I had zero expectations on what the interior / ambience would be like at Burnt Ends. Entering the restaurant, the first thing that I noticed was the high ceiling and the wood focused interior. I would say that it’s very “Australian”, as it is an Australian restaurant 😂 We were seated at the chef’s counter, which I thought was not a problem because I thought it would be a course-menu per person. Turns out, we could share some of the dishes so it was a bit hard to do so. One thing that I had to complain about being seated at the chef’s counter is that it was way too hot…

🍽 - Okay, this is the moment I’ve been waiting for - to try the World’s Top 50 Best Restaurant. I would say that my friend over ordered and the half of the dishes were not impressive at all. My favorites were the Grissini and Taramasalata, Beef and Chips, and Unagi Rice. We also ordered Smoked Quail Egg and Caviar, just because it was one of the popular menu, but it was meh. My friend was raving about Burnt Ends’ Sanger and the Steak, but honestly… I’ve had better ones. Half of the menu that we ordered was asparagus, leek, and burrata - which tasted so similar to each other. I was mostly disappointed with the burrata because they give so little of the burrata and it was paired with artichoke which I thought was bad. We had the marshmallows and Berry Tart for dessert. The marshmallows were meh for me because I’m not a big fan of marshmallows itself but I was in love with the Berry Tart! I thought it was perfect! And the wine was good also.

💲 - Truly did not expect the bill to turn out to be this expensive. But I guess there’s a first for everything. The wine costs a lot (but when I googled it the price is actually not THAT expensive - so that’s one). I was pretty disappointed because half of the food that we ordered was not impressive at all, yet it was expensive. I would probably come back for some of the small dishes, dessert, and wine (but honestly I can get the tart at the bakery so probably not that).
