I loved this place for its tranquility, been there with school for Japan immersion programs during winter 2014 & I promised myself that one day I’ll go back again to see this beautiful village again.

We booked a day tour with Klook — where we covered Gujo, Takayama & Shirakawa-go in a day.

It was a pretty free and easy tour, we got to explore around this area for like a short while.

This village is only available for visits from 9am-5pm, as it’s a village where people live and also work! I once saw that you can actually stay over in the ryokans and traditional guesthouses to experience the culture! These iconic gassho- zukuri farmhouses are really beautiful. It’s even prettier during winter!

Honestly it’s a pity that our timing was pretty right, if not I would really love to extend my stay in Takayama and Shirakawago.
