My famous homemade buttermilk biscuits

I won 2nd place making biscuits in the state of NC. My grandmother taught me how to make biscuits when I was only 10 years old. I made the biscuits in the picture above.

2½ cups unbleached all-purpose flour plus more for work surface

1 tablespoon baking powder

¾ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

12 tablespoons butter (1 ½ sticks) cold, grated

1 cup buttermilk

The key to making biscuits is DO NOT over knead. Fold your dough about four times. Then, pat or roll out the dough to your desired thickness. I bake my biscuits in an iron biscuit skillet.
