Belts to have in your wardrobe

One of the most underrated parts of an outfit that is sometimes overlooked is your belt! There are many different types of belts that can elevate your outfit, or sometimes even be the most interesting part of your fit! a good belt can make or break an outfit and knowing when to use them is really important so here’s a small guide to what belts you should have in your collection and how to style them!

1. classic black/ dark brown leather belt

I think most people probably have one of these in their collections already but i had to include this in the list. One of the most essential pieces that someone can have, a classic leather belt can tie an outfit together and provides a classy finish to a tucked in outfit. However, a few things that you can note here include

- the thickness of the belt:

i dont like my leather belts to be too thick as i feel that skinny belts are way more classy but its always good to have different options

- colour of the buckle:

some buckles are silver, gold or even a dark grey or bronze. remember that this will be one of the parts of your outfit that will stand out the most when wearing a belt so its really important to choose a buckle that suits your aesthetic

2. Tactical/ canvas belt

i think these are great options to have when wearing more rugged pieces like cargo shorts or pants that you need to belt up. Since these bottoms dont really go with the leather aesthetic, a nice tactical or canvas belt will get the job done while keeping to the aethetic and not being too loud too! I like to use my army belt for this option too heh.

3. statement belts

Statement belts are super fun and cool to play with! you can get cowboy/western belts from a ton of thrift stores especially stakeout and they have super cool embroidery desings on them that will really pop out in your outfit. These can be paired with simple flared bottoms and maybe a cool button down or jacket and you’re good to go! I recently got this fabric belt with a really cool motif and I think its a great way to add some patterns and colour to your fit if you usually like wearing plain neutral tops and bottoms :)
