Donated Platelets!

Most of today I haven’t done anything aside from donating Platelets.

If you have ever had to get blood drawn before that’s essentially how it felt with the needle going in.

Just don’t move your arm and the pain should subside a bit. I can’t speak too much about the donation process, everyone has a different time. They asked if I wanted a blanket a few times because most do end up getting a bit chilly.

I wasn’t, more so just tired and listening to my audio book.

If you are thinking about donating, take a deep breath. It’s alright. Make sure to drink plenty of water a few days beforehand, eat all your meals. Especially 2-3 hours before your appointment- this is detrimental, as on an empty stomach it would make issues.

- 1 needle is taking your blood and filtering for the Platelets

- the other is taking what’s left, as well as stuff added in and putting it back in your body (this part is what makes people cold from what I remember, as well as the stuff that would create issues on an empty stomach)

When donating, Platelets/Blood ect., put your pride aside, be out spoken. If you have a question, ask. If you are uncomfortable, speak up. They are doing their job, and if you don’t say problem, they can’t fix it. It maybe uncomfortable or tough to speak up at first.

I was going to ask if I couldn’t take it if I could stop the process and leave, I forgot to. Later, the person next to me, ended up getting their attention, and stopped it early because they had to go to work.

That being said. Read reviews of a place before you go. Always make sure to check on the newest tab, that way you are getting the most accurate reviews of the place.
