Español Diary: eating our way through Ronda 🍤

Ronda may be small but it is a little town filled with many restaurants and cafes! ☕️

Here’s a list of places we tried:

🍕: Restaurante Pizzería Michelangelo

📍: Calle de Lorenzo Borrego Gómez 5, 29400 Ronda, Málaga, Spain

Think grandma’s home cooked pizza. Stumbled upon this family-run spot in a quieter part of the new town, but very crowded at lunchtime. Gambas pil-pil was bombz — so spicy so good! And they have the wildest tinto de verano here. So potent that it sent me back to the room right after to sleep off the alcohol 🍷

🥙 Tragatá | Benito Gómez | Ronda

📍: C. Nueva, 4, 29400 Ronda, Málaga, Spain

Michelin Bib Gourmand. Enough said! Food was so good! We were the only one dining outdoors in the cold, and underestimated the evening/nighttime temperatures. We froze halfway through the meal and sought refuge only just before desserts. Every dish was extremely exquisite. The bill ran up to ~€150 for 4 pax, including drinks. Worth every penny!

🍳 Las Maravillas

📍: Carrera Espinel, 12, 29400 Ronda, Málaga, Spain

A low-key no-frills spot for Spanish basics. Ordered enough to explode from the meal. Tapas were really good. Best dish of the night’s got to be the pork chops in my opinion.

🍫 Churrería Alba

📍: Carrera Espinel, 44, 29400 Ronda, Málaga, Spain

Churros is eaten as an afterthought most times but in Spain, it is likened to our dough fritters 油条 that we have for breakfast. Or as a snack. And churros are done the same way too! My first churros looking like dough fritters, best eaten plain with hot chocolate and black coffee. Yummers.

Got lazy one morning and sent the husband out to pick up supermarket breakfast of €1 cheese, ham and baguette.
