After 2 years I finally get to do a photoshoot in my graduation gown! ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ (thanks to Miss Rona ๐ฆ ) I did a solo shoot with @krispypicture and I absolutely love the results, so I thought I'd share with you some tips on doing a grad shoot, especially since many of you are graduating from uni during this time of the year! ๐
๐ National Museum is the go-to grad shoot spot and even for prewedding photos. To get to the large pillars in my photos, enter via the staircase at St. Andrew's Road, across the huge lawn (Padang) near Esplanade Park).
โ Protip: On weekends, you might have to take turns posing on this very popular spot with others, so recommend to go one weekdays if possible (especially if you're shy ๐ฅบ)
๐ Here you can do some mandatory grad poses like 1. holding your cap, 2. looking into the distance (face the light source, so that your face is illuminated nicely and it looks like you're staring at your bright future โจโจ), and 3. leaning on the gate or one of the pillars.
๐ Once you run out of ideas, walk to the Anderson Bridge (across Fullerton Hotel) to take more pics,
โ Protip: Wear your favourite neutral colour dress (black/white) underneath your gown so that you can take some pics wearing it with your cap, sash to switch it up a little!
๐ Here you can take photos of you 1. walking (towards the said bright futureโจโจ) and 2. leaning on the bridge overlooking the river with the hotel as the background.
๐ This is a must-do spot for foreign students like me to make it clear and flex that we studied in Singapore ๐คช We took a cab to Gardens By The Bay and walked to this avenue near The Meadow (on Google Maps). From here you can have a clear view of the MBS in the background.
โ Protip: If you're wearing heels, be sure to bring a pair of comfy slippers too, as it's quite a long walk from the taxi stand/entrance to this area. (I didn't and I ended up walking barefeet at one point ๐ฎโ๐จ)
๐ This location is perfect for taking big group photos (with friends & family) and for the classic 'tossing your graduation cap in the air' shot! ๐
The whole shoot took about 3 hours for me, from 4-7 pm, and it was very tiring but felt super worth it once I see the final results! ๐ฅณ
Hope you freshies find these tips helpful to plan for your graduation photoshoot. Wishing you happy graduation and good luck to your journey ahead! ๐
