nail ptsd from this salon… + lessons learnt 🫠

True & tragic story of my manicure experience at a random nail salon at Far East Plaza. This happened a year ago so I’m not sure if they’re still operating 💀 but here’s my PTSD storytime lol.

Wanted to do my nails last minute before a my trip and was in orchard, so Far East Plaza came to mind. The reviews in general for nail salons here seemed quite good so I thought everywhere will have some standard LOL. Went to the first salon I saw after entering the mall.

OK so I showed them my design inspo and they said its DOABLE. Little did I know what I just signed up for 🤠 Firstly, the colours were OFF by so much, they had super limited colour choice. Next, the nail art…. was disastrous. The lady took like 738191 tries to draw the clouds but it was just not it. She also asked her co-workers to help but it seemed like no one could do it. So I just gave up and told them to change to glitter. Last disaster — it was a classic package, and my one of my nails also bled at one point of time.

Spent longer than expected here around 1.5h + it was not cheap. I recall paying around $35-40 for this. Better off going to Bugis if I knew.

Lessons learnt —

⏰ Don’t be so last minute, research first about the place and read reviews. Even better, go with your friend’s recommendations if they tried a salon / artist before.

👨🏻‍🦯 Manage expectations about nail art. Not everyone can deliver, it’s ok to change up the design along the way.
